Western Brook Pond Trail

After the boat tour of Western Brook Pond, we took our time on the trail back to the highway.

Here's Julie, my most favourite hiking partner! :)

As I said earlier, in Newfoundland there's orchids everywhere!

This is the Little Club-Spur Orchid, growing in a boggy area.

Horned Bladderwort. Another plant that loves bogs and fens.

This plant has virtually no leaves. It captures small water insects and other creatures by means of tiny "bladders" on its roots. When triggered, these bladders suddenly fill with water, sucking in the prey. The plant then "digests" the trapped insect.

Mountain Ash growing in the crook of a White Birch tree.
